For Students

Will this just give me the answers?

No. The tutor is designed to ask guiding questions and give one hint at a time. It won’t produce a finished solution to copy, because the goal is for you to solve the next one alone.

How is this different from Khan Academy or Duolingo Math?

Khan Academy is mostly videos and practice sets; Duolingo Math covers general numeracy. VertexMath is built course-by-course for Canadian high school codes like MCR3U and MCV4U, and when you’re stuck it has a conversation with you about your step, instead of showing a static explanation.

Can I use it on my phone or tablet?

Yes. VertexMath runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets, and computers. There’s nothing to install.

Is it available in French?

Yes, the app and tutor work in English and French, which suits French Immersion students.

For Parents

Will my teen use this to cheat on homework?

VertexMath is built to make that hard: the tutor withholds final answers and asks your teen to do each step. Teachers can tell the difference between copied work and understanding, and so will your teen’s test marks.

Is it aligned with Ontario’s de-streamed Grade 9 curriculum?

Yes. Grade 9 content follows the de-streamed MTH1W course, and Grades 10–12 follow MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U and MDM4U. Alberta and BC are in development.

How is my child’s data protected?

We follow PIPEDA, never sell student data, and don’t show ads. See our privacy policy for details on what we collect and how long we keep it.

How much does it cost?

The Explorer plan is free. The Premium Pass for a course is a one-time payment of whatever you choose between CA$5 and CA$50 (we suggest CA$20). There’s no subscription.
